Gets past newcomer in Sydney
Kape defeated Felipe dos Santos via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 293 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Originally scheduled to face Kai Kara-France here, Kape handled his late-notice debuting opponent as a -425 favorite, but boy, did he have to work for it. Dos Santos refused to give an inch the entire 15 minutes despite being outclassed in what was largely a kickboxing match. Manel was responsible for the biggest moment of the fight with a Round 1 knockdown, but dos Santos kept coming. The end result was both men walking away with $50,000 Fight of the Night bonuses. Kape spent his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier cutting a heel promo on Kara-France, who was in the crowd. It would be shocking if the UFC doesn't re-book those two in the near future.
